Plan your snowshoe tour in detail
Bear the weather and snow conditions in mind and inform relatives or hosts about the planned tour. Potential shelter, points of contact in an emergency, catering facilities and of course the selection of the route must be included when planning your tour. If you are unsure of any of the above-mentioned points your host or Appenzellerland Tourism will be happy to assist you.
Hike along the marked routes
For your own safety and in order to protect the unspoiled nature, please use the provided tracks. This way you will reach your destination safely, whilst enjoying your hiking trip unreservedly.
Take care of the forest and the animals
A snowshoe trip through the open fields provides you with a panoramic (over)view. If you notice any wild animals, remain calm, take your time and give the animals a wide berth.
Avoid delicate habitats
Real snowshoe hikers and walkers consistently avoid delicate habitats (with the exception of paths marked on the map).
Dogs are to be kept on a lead
Under no circumstances
Lengthy stays, igniting bonfires, group games etc. in the forest or at the edge of the forest are prohibited. Nature and the animals will be grateful.
