There is a reason why Walzenhausen is called the ‘balcony above Lake Constance’. It opens up magnificent views of the lake, the Vorarlberg region all the way to the Tyrolean Alps and, in the west, beyond Constance towards the Black Forest. However, Walzenhausen is also the gateway to the rural Appenzellerland. On excellent hiking trails with different BBQ areas, visitors can experience nature that is well tended and intact. For instance, Walzenhausen is where the unique ‘Witz-Wanderweg’ (Joke Trail) to Heiden starts or ends.
