Nestled in a lovely hilly landscape lies Herisau, the municipality with the most inhabitants in the Canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden. The hike from Herisau-Wilen to Rechberg, Buechschachen and Lutzenland offers views in all directions, looking out over the rolling hills of the Hinterland and Mittelland districts, the Alpstein massif, Fürstenland region and Lake Constance.
