Stunning vistas from Hohe Buche

The hike from Speicher up to Hohe Buche leads through a beautiful and diverse landscape. And the views are spectacular: over the Appenzell hills with their scattered farmhouses, the summits of the Alpstein massif and Lake Constance. The trail leads mainly across hilly meadows and alpine pastures. So you may find yourself right in the midst of life in the Appenzellerland when the farmers bring in the hay as the cows doze in the midday sun or graze along the trail. Many different paths lead up to Hohe Buche. This popular viewpoint at 1,130 metres above sea level and its restaurant are about a one-hour hike away from the surrounding villages. But which parish does Hohe Buche actually belong to? Trogen, Speicher, Teufen, Bühler or Gais? A glance at the map reveals that it is part of Bühl. However, the border to the other municipalities is not far. Trogen is particularly close and also lays claim to Hohe Buche.
