The reception area, changing rooms, showers and quiet area as well as the therapy and spa facilities were recently refurbished to the highest standard. The spa is now more modern and attractive, with open spaces and its own bistro.

In days gone by a healing sulphur spring steeped in tradition, today a modern fitness and health spa, the Appenzeller Heilbad features a spacious pool landscape with indoor and outdoor pools, bubbling loungers and massage jets, romantic grottos as well as a sauna area with an outdoor sauna and a sauna garden. We also offer a comprehensive range of massages, Ayurveda and wellness treatments as well as fitness classes (aqua aerobics, spinning).

Go ahead and treat yourself! Swim in the indoor pool with fantastic views of Lake Constance or relax in the outdoor jacuzzi. Forget your everyday woes, kick back, and enjoy your time in the 1,000-sqm Well & See spa.

The Herisau sports centre offers pampering, exercise and relaxation programmes for the whole family. The children can splash around in the pool with its fun children’s slide while the adults relax in the sauna or on the sunbeds. We can feed hungry mouths in our in-house restaurant. These and plenty of other delights are just waiting to be discovered. The sports centre is open daily all year round.

Lying back in a buoyant solution of Epsom salts and just letting the water carry you, with practically all noise and light blocked out – that is what FLOATING is all about. In addition to relaxing the whole body, studies have shown that floating is effective in sports, rehabilitation and pain treatment and also can help de-stress. The magnesium sulphate, or Epsom salts, used in the tanks is by far the most soothing and skin-friendly salt. Therefore, guests can relax in the salt solution for an hour without having to worry about skin problems. Due to the high concentration of salt in the water, the body floats on the surface like in the Dead Sea. Muscles, blood vessels, organs and bones become weightless and remain in a tension-free state, without contortions or pressure points.

Our cosy “Weidwald” spa area with Finnish sauna, bio sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and multi-sensory showers is the perfect place to relax. In the quiet relaxation room with a view over the beautiful natural surroundings you can leave your day-to-day cares behind. From the relaxation room you have direct access to the Kneipp trail in the fresh mountain air of Weidwald forest. The spa area is open to day guests from Monday to Thursday.
