Heiden-Rorschach-Route

Enjoy the beauty of the Appenzell region and Lake Constance on the same route

The Heiden-Rorschach cycle route is the perfect way to experience Appenzell’s picturesque, hilly landscape and the beauty of Lake Constance all at once. From Heiden, the route first leads to Walzenhausen, the ‘balcony above Lake Constance’. Enjoy the unique views across Lake Constance and deep into Germany. From Walzenhausen the journey continues past Berneck, Au and St. Margrethen before crossing the border into Austria. You’ll first cycle along the Rhine for a while until it flows into Lake Constance. Take your time and let the beautiful ambience and calming tranquillity of Lake Constance wash over you. Along the shores of Lake Constance you’ll pass the Rohrspitz before crossing the border again in Rheineck. Once more on the side of the Old Rhine and Lake Constance, the route leads via Staad to Rorschach.
