Alpine Panorama Trail

The Alpine Panorama Trail from Lake Constance to Lake Geneva promises great views of the Alpine peaks as well as the Central Plateau and the Jura. The route leads through the traditional cultural landscapes of the foothills of the Alps. Cows in the pastures and cheese dishes in the mountain inns are two omnipresent companions on the Alpine Panorama Trail. Wine culture also dominates the Lake Geneva region.

510 kilometres and 35,000 metres in altitude spread over 29 stages - that's the Alpine Panorama Trail from Rorschach to Geneva. It crosses Appenzellerland, Toggenburg, Central Switzerland, Emmental, Schwarzenburgerland and Gruyère.

The first stage starts in the town of Rorschach on Lake Constance. The route then climbs up to the Biedermeier village of Heiden. Continue through the gently rolling hills to Trogen and the Innerrhoden capital of Appenzell. From there, the trail climbs via Alpen to the summit of the Kronberg, where you are rewarded with fantastic views of the Alpstein. The descent to Schwägalp starts from Kronberg. You then hike downhill through meadows and alpine pastures, fens and coniferous forests to Toggenburg. Further stages are signposted from Stein SG.
