STEIN BORDER AND BRIDGE HIKING TRAIL

With its ravines and hills, the route through the border region between the towns of Stein and Herisau is typical of the geography of the Appenzellerland. Along the way, hikers cross the Urnäsch river twice and also four of its tributary streams. There is also quite a difference in altitude to be overcome during several ascents and descents on this trail. Hikers are rewarded with impressive views into the depths, across the wide land and onto beautifully engineered bridge structures.
